Our mission: Through community engagement and legislative advocacy, Reusable SF works to reduce single-use foodware, creating a reuse economy that safeguards the health and environment of all San Franciscans.
There’s a better way than throw-away.
Clean Water Action’s Rethink Disposable has worked with more than 300 restaurants in the Bay to help them transition from single-use to reuse. And in addition to being good for the environment, every single business has saved money.

THE REUSABLE FOODWARE ORDINANCE
The proposed San Francisco Reusable Foodware Ordinance will help our city make the leap from single-use to reuse. When passed, it will help our restaurants save money while eliminating single use disposables from our streets, landfills and local waterways, and more.
The reusable foodware policy will require:
Only reusable cups, plates, and utensils used when you dine onsite at a restaurant
Only reusable cups to serve beverages at large venues, like stadiums and arenas
When you bring your own reusable cup for take-out, it can’t be rejected unless it’s dirty or unfit for use
You only get the accessories (like utensils, straws, condiment packets) you specifically request for take-out and delivery orders
