Advocate for reuse
ReusableSF is an all-volunteer coalition of individuals and member groups.
We have opportunities to volunteer for single or occasional events or activities, as well as leadership roles in various teams. Whether you’re already a member of the coalition or looking to get involved for the first time, we welcome volunteers of all skills and abilities to support the reuse movement in San Francisco. Below are some ways to get involved. Please contact us through the website and let us know what you’re interested in and we’ll follow up with you as soon as we can!
Policy team
This team includes people who are interested in leading the political advocacy effort for the coalition. Don't know how to do political advocacy? No worries! We can teach you! Volunteers on the policy subcommittee will be involved in directing our coalition's advocacy efforts with the SF Board of Supervisors and within the various city commissions and task forces. Members of this team will work closely with the communications and events teams to get the word out to local residents about reaching district Supervisors in support of reuse policies. We also work on the wonky stuff, like shaping the reuse policies and working with the city on the education and implementation plans that go with new policies.
Communications team
The volunteer communications tools team helps amplify ReusableSF’s mission to build momentum for reuse in San Francisco. Our activities include the coalition’s website and social media communication, and we are aiming to expand our email management tools. The team also prepares written materials such as flyers and various types of collateral to support outreach and events.
If you have experience in Word Press, MailChimp (or other similar email systems), are a skilled writer, a savvy social media user, and/or have an interest in helping us build a photo library, please join our communications tools team. We meet online every other Monday at 12:30 for 30 minutes to sync up with each other and then work in between meetings on specific efforts individually or in smaller groups.
Events team
We’re looking for people who would like to help spread the word about Reuse at events in San Francisco. Volunteers would help identify public events appropriate for setting up information tables and help staff and organize volunteers to participate in informational events. Event team volunteers will also help organize in person potlucks, meetings, and other gatherings for ReusableSF coalition members. Volunteers are welcome for single events, or for an on-going commitment to help lead the events team.
